Update on the Short Fuse 1066 meeting on 12th April:
The evening was memorable for the quality of the stories rather than the quantity of the audience. Sadly, we had almost as many apologies as readers. But a suggestion that perhaps the event had run its course was greeted with horror by those present, as an open mic evening for short story writers is quite rare and obviously still valued by some. So we shall be at the Jenny Lind again in October.
As stated the stories were great and all extremely well read. We had a Shirley Valentine spoof, a rom-com crossed with scifi tale (the writer’s description!), a military fantasy, a quirky look at innocence, a dream which turned out to be a nightmare, a lovely (?) little story about the good old days, and, last but not least, Space Virgins of the Third Reich. You can use your imagination there!
