We kicked off the year, as always, with a (mainly literary) quiz. This tradition, initiated originally by Bill, always feels like a nice memorial to him. And it’s fun – a Shorelink imperative. There were 129 questions (it should have been 130 but question no:27 mysteriously went missing) and 4 tables of 5 contestants.
In spite of a certain amount of inevitable unruly behaviour, (especially from the all male team!) the final scores showed that Shorelinkers are no slouches when it comes to general knowledge, with all tables scoring highly and the winners, by a short head, achieving 95 correct answers.
We were delighted to welcome Frank back into the fold, after his very long illness, and also to meet two new writers who appeared to take our slightly unconventional approach in their respective strides.
Next week is a reading week, the optional theme It will all end in tears, suggested by Tony B, and the week after (21st) will be our first workshop of the year, hosted by Alvin.
