In a very Shakespearean fashion, Sian presented us with three boxes. One contained a slip of paper with a character on it, another a problem, and the third a time or place. Having drawn blindly from each box, it was our task to put these random instructions together. To give you an example – I drew A wild animal, At a football match and my problem was Someone needs to confess something.
Nothing daunted, after thirty minutes of frantic scribbling, an astounding range of work was read back. To mention just a few, we had reindeers striking the day before Christmas, an eccentric undercover policeman, a dramatic monologue by Jack the Ripper, St Peter at the gates of heaven, aliens, a hangman – well, all human life (and death!) was there. And a quite beautiful poem about a drowned world.
Another lovely and constructive evening. Next week, the optional theme is The Rainbow. See you there. Sally
